“Continue commitment to being an environmental leader on topics such as climate change adaptation and reduction, zero waste, zero net energy, water use, and greenhouse gas reduction and develop a Climate Action Plan, including allocation of necessary resources.”

- Adopted by City Council on April 14, 2015 as one of the top ten priorities recommended through the “Thousand Oaks 2064” Community Visioning Process facilitated by the Council to help the City develop a conceptual “road map” with guiding principles through the year 2064.

To meet the challenge set forth by City Council, the City of Thousand Oaks created the Sustainability Division, also known as the “GoGreen” Team, within the Public Works Department. However, even before establishment of the GoGreen team, the City initiated extensive environmental programs and built new green facilities, as well as winning numerous awards for environmental leadership .

We recognize that we still have a long way to go to meet the Council and Community’s adopted 2064 Vision and address the increasingly urgent problem of climate change. We are therefore excited to soon begin preparing the City's first ever Climate Action Plan. Find out more about our current Climate Action Planning  efforts.
