The program is open on the first Saturday of each month and regularly serves over 300 participants, collecting up to 30,000 pounds of toxic waste that may otherwise have been placed in the trash or illegally dumped. Free Material Reuse Program
Using up a product for its intended use, or giving the material to someone who can, is the best practice for any product generated by a household -- this is the most efficient use of our natural resources. An important part of this free program is material re-use, where household products that have not been used are available free to the public, saving disposal cost and the extra cost of having to purchase a new product. On the average, this program gives away 200 pounds of household products, such as cleaners, paint and solvents, fertilizers, wood preservatives, adhesives, and motor oil.

Available Materials (product availability may vary)

  • Household Cleaners
  • Paint and Solvents
  • Fertilizers and Garden Products
  • Pool and Spa Chemicals
  • Motor Oil and Automotive Fluids
  • Wood Preservatives and Sealers
  • Adhesives, Glue, Putty and Caulk

For more information on the Material Re-Use Program, call (805) 449-2400 or contact Environmental Programs at GoGreen@toaks.org.
